Upcoming Gigs – Doves, The Enemy & More…

Doves

As usual there’s a load of gigs on around Dublin at the moment, and as we’re coming up to the summer months there’s more and more announced. Fun times all round!

So coming up this month

  • The Enemy are playing the Academy on 17th April
  • Doves play the Olympia on Monday 20th April, touring in support of their new album (Kingdom of Rust – buy it!)
  • Davit Kitt hits up Whelan’s on 18th April, after a long absence and eagerly awaited new album
  • Gomez are to play the Academy on 30th April – have a listen to ‘How We Operate’ on their myspace….

And also heard today that after selling out two dates so far, Leonard Cohen has added a thrid and final date in the O2, tickets are fairly steep ranging from €90 – 125, but then again he’s around years and is a legend!

I’m sure there’s loads more on around Dublin that I’ve missed, but that’s my pick of the bunch. Anyone have any other recommendations??

Florence and the Machine
Also I know Peter’s covering music, but I’m gonna throw in a sneaky link – am loving Florence and the Machine at the moment – she was included in the BBC’s Sound of 2009 list at the start of the year – have a look through it there some great acts included. Happy April y’all!

  1. I won’t kill you for mentioning Florence & The Machine – Im loving their cover of Hospital Beds.

Also, did you notice who else was on that BBC ’09 list – Passion Pit! Maybe the beeb has been reading a certain someone’s posting…….

They also have Lady Gaga mentioned, but its safe to say I wont be recommending anyone should listen to her.
