For the last week or so, I’ve been in an acoustic mood. This is all thanks to this great site – eezlewax.
Whoever runs the site remains anonymous, but they have collected a veritable orgy of live music performances. Videos and songs are available for many, many events: Later With Jools Holland and Live At Abbey Road are the main ones, but there are more covered such as T In The Park, Glastonbury and some live BB2 Sessions.
And whats more, the tracks are all available to download. I must have spent an hour gathering 148 tracks – and there are more than that, I just took tracks from bands I know. And it was worth it. There is a certain pureness attached to an acoustic track that can often make it an entirely new song compared to the original.
I have yet to listen to all I downloaded, but I’m enjoying every second of it so far. Here’s some of the what’s available, and where they were recorded:
- Live at Abbey Road: Dave Matthews, Elbow, Damien Rice, David Gray, Gipsy Kings, Muse, Ray Lamontagne, The Killers, The Kooks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Zutons, Snow Patrol.
- Later With Jools Holland: MGMT, Kaiser Chiefs, The Last Shadow Puppets, Artic Monkeys, Snow Patrol, Supergrass, The Ting Tings, Bloc Party, Adele, Hard-Fi.
- Festivals: Kings of Leon, The Ting Tings, The Verve, Amy Winehouse, Artic Monkeys, The Gossip, Travis, Muse, The Killers.
- Live on BB2: Elbow, Gnarls Barkley, Arcade Fire, Amy Winehouse, Foo Fighters, The White Stripes, King of Leon.
Plenty of choice and plenty to keep you busy. Happy listening.
