Two bits of Irish music tidbits today. Firstly, Snow Patrol have announced a string of pre-Christmas gigs in Ireland. They kick off in Dublin’s own The Olympia (2 Dec), followed by Killarney (4 Dec), Castlebar (6 Dec) and finally Belfast (7 & 8 Dec). According to Hot Press, tickets will be on sale on 27 August so keep on eye on ticketmaster here.
Snow Patrol’s popularity seems to have slumped recently, with their most recent single, The Planets Bend Between Us, failing to enter the charts in most countries. But this upcoming gig series is part of their Reworked tour and is billed as “a live celebration featuring highlights from the band’s 15-year career to date”, so it sounds promising for a good night of some old school Snow Patrol tunes, just like this one.
Moving on, I heard a new track on Phantom the other week and its really grown on me. Even better – it’s from an Irish band. Quite unusually this indie-pop quintet are mostly females – there’s one lucky guy in there too. Check out Bad Boyfriend, by Talulah Does The Hula.
