Faunts – Feel.Love.Thinking.Of

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted about some new music I’m liking lately, yes I have been listening to something other than Florence & Machine! 😉 Anyways step forward Canadian band Faunts.

I first came across this band through one of Nialler9’s podcasts. The track which caught my attention was “Feel.Love.Thinking.Of”, I just couldn’t get it out of my head after hearing it the first time (and then went onto replay it constantly over a couple of days!). The song is pretty darn catchy – it starts off a bit electro, but then the vocals are almost dreamlike. I went and got a hold of their album after checking out the band’s myspace.

The album – which has the same title – Feel.Love.Thinking.Of, is Faunts second release. Their debut was released in 2005, followed up by an EP release in 2006. I haven’t got a hold of much of their previous tracks so can’t really comment on them. But back to the important bit, their most recent album.

Depending on your taste you may or may not like it. It’s not one of those albums that jumps out at you on first listen, but give it a couple of plays and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Standout tracks off the album for me are “Feel.Love.Thinking.Of” (have a look / listen of the video below) and “It Hurts Me All The Time”.

If you like your synths, laid-back ambient tunes and soft contrasting vocals then give this a listen. Think slightly Passion Pit slowed down and in reverse.
