A band that have recently come onto my radar are Bad Veins. Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio – these guys have been around a while, and annoyingly enough I’ve only just started listening to them (pet hate = missing out on good music).
Comprised of guitarist and vocalist Benjamin Davis and drummer Sebastien Schultz, the band have been about since 2006, but took their time with their debut LP Bad Veins, which was released last year. It’s one of the few albums in a while that has held my attention to listen to the LP in full on the first listen. And it only gets better with each spin on my iTunes. Indie gold – low fi vocals, snappy drums and killer melodies – Bad Veins are on the right track.
Seeing that The Clink is now based on both sides of the Atlantic, good news for me that Bad Veins are based in the US. They’re currently about to head off on tour, supporting Scottish rockers We Were Promised Jet Packs.
The tour kicks off on 11th Feb @ Bowery Ballroom in NYC, and sees Bad Veins playing a total of 10 dates. Check out their myspace for full tour listings. From what I’ve been hearing, Bad Veins strength is in their live performances, so it’d be well worth checking them out. Fingers crossed they’ll make it to Toronto some time this year.
