MGMT may have hit a bit of a road bump. Their new album, Congratulations, is expected to be released on 13th April, 2010, and has been pretty much negatively received by critics. But who wants to listen to critics anyway?
The band themselves have said there isn’t a Time To Pretend or a Kids on it, aiming for the album to be listened to as a whole, not individual tracks. Earlier in the month, the first single from this new album was released as a free download. It’s called Flash Delirium and was available from the band’s website as a free download.
But the disaster stuck – the entire album leaked! So now those nice boys in the band are streaming it from their website whoismgmt.com. In their own words:
Hey everybody, the album leaked, and we wanted you to be able to hear it from us. We wanted to offer it as a free download but that didn’t make sense to anyone but us.
So now we all have the chance to make up our own minds about the latest offering from the American electro-poppers. It’s certainly no Oracular Spectacular, but then why should it be? As good as the 2008 album was, we can’t expect bands to be repetitive money making factories. So, go – give it a listen, and let us know what you think. And while you’re there, check out the new video for Flash Delirium, which was added this morning. It’s all on the band’s website – whoismgmt.com.
