The superb live music series that is the Heineken Green Spheres continues in The Academy, Dublin on 14th May – this time featuring a fantastic line up in the form of Foals and Bombay Bicycle Club.
Foals hail from Oxford, England and released their debut album, Antidotes, back in 2008. The album boasted some quality tunes; Olympic Airways and Cassius would be among my favourites. More excitingly is the prospect of a new ablum – this will come in the form of 11 tracks to be released on 10th May and is entitled Total Life Forever. Check out one of the singles from the forthcoming album, Spanish Sahara. It’s a bit slower than what you might expect from Foals, but still a very good, chilled out listen.
Fellow London natives Bombay Bicycle Club are the support act on the night. Around slightly less than Foals, the band released their debut album last summer. I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose was one of my musical highlights of last year, with great tracks such as The Giantess and Always Like This. But the track that put them on the map (and was their first EP) was Evening/Morning – what a great intro.
Heineken Green Spheres is a free music event which has been running all over the country, and The Clink has had the massive privilege of attending a few of the events (although we missed out on tickets to Passion Pit – boo-hoo!). Previous events have always been a good night out (with a compliementary bottle of Heineken for our troubles) with acts such as Marina & The Diamonds and White Lies.
To get in the draw for some free tickets, along with two mates, head over to heinekenmusic.ie and register yourself. Entries close on 28th April, so good luck.
