Competition Time: Who Would You Ring?

With the world of social media and what not you’d think you’d be a step closer to your music idol, but that doesn’t seem so. Are they really the ones updating the facebook page or twitter account? In some cases I think yes but are they ever going to answer your questions or in fact do you have any questions for them?

So we have a phone to give away (Samsung s3500 thanks to Vodafone). Now this phone does not have any famous peoples numbers, BUT if it did and you won it, what musician or singer would you ring and what would you ask them?

Leave your answer in the comments below to be in the draw to win the phone.

I think I’d ring Marina and ask her where she gets the inspiration for some of her outfits, like giant mickey mouse dungarees, what possesses one to wear those? Don’t get me wrong I do love Marina 🙂

Competition closes midnight Wed May 5th.

UPDATE: So the names were put into a cup and the winner was picked, congrats to kgiller – we’ll email you  🙂

Weekend Tunage: Jamie T

How come I hadn’t heard of Jamie T until last month – I love him! He’s been described to me as a mixture of Arctic Monkeys and The Streets but for me he’s way better than either of them. I’ve been listening to his newest album Kings And Queens non stop since I got it. He’s playing The Academy on February 10th, tickets are sold out though (sweet that a friend bought them for me before Christmas). He originally had the gig on in The Village – obviously big demand for this guy from Wimbledon… what, he’s only just 24?? Anyway check out one of my favourites Chaka Demus to get you in the weekend mood…

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Weekend Tunage

Everyone’s been super busy (and some of us slightly hungover) today and haven’t had a chance to write a decent post, so just gonna hit you with it. Heard the song on the xbox ad and just had to look it up. The Big Pink with Dominos from their debut album A Brief History Of Love released last month.

Dublin Twestival

Twestival Dublin

Twestival Dublin

Twestival was set up to put social media to good use – organising social events to raise money and awareness for good causes. They go on all over the world, check out the global site for a city near you! The next one in Dublin is happening Thursday Sept 10th and is in aid of Barnardos. It’s just a fun night of music, comedy, raffles and hopefully some good banter. It’s on in Krystle on Harcourt St. and early bird tickets are only €5 (€10 when they run out) but it’s all for a good cause so you can donate as much as you like when you’re buying your ticket.

Bring some friends, meet some new people, nothing ventured nothing gained – is that a lame saying? Well I like it, maybe it should be my new motto! Anyway all are welcome it’s not only for Tweeters by the way, so don’t let that put you off 🙂

Playhouse Dublin

Playhouse Liberty Hall

Playhouse Liberty Hall

As part of the Dublin Theatre Festival Daft.ie are presenting Playhouse, where they turn Liberty Hall, one of Dublin’s tallest buildings, into a giant animated canvas! Sounds pretty cool doesn’t it – well the best part is that everyone can submit something to be displayed, they have built software for you to make your own animation (you can also add sound and music)! There are still 23 days to go as it’s not happening ’til the 24th of September and running until Oct 11th, so plenty of time to submit something.

Check out the video on their site to see how your animation will look!

Happy Weekend Tune

It’s Friday again – yeah!

We’re thinking we should make this a weekly feature, and this week seeing as myself and Lucia are off to Sardinia, a great suggestion from Peter – Island in the Sun by Weezer – Saweet!!

Fashion Breakthrough Dublin

I won two tickets for this from the kind people at Pigsback this morning by responding to a question on their twitter page. However when I won I hadn’t heard about the event nor did I know what it was about, however I’m very much looking forward to it.

It’s on over the next few days but tomorrow evening is the main day with a drinks reception starting at 7pm at the Meeting House Square. 13 different young designers are going to be showcasing their fashion and the whole thing is being presented by Holly White. Read more about the event here. Tickets are €15 so it’s not a crazy price at all!
