This news makes me happy. Interpol are back, and it’s long overdue. Pauls Banks & co. bringing a bit of gloom back to take over from the summer vibes.
They’ve just unleashed a new track Lights, which is available for download on their website (it’s free). No word as of yet on new album details, but this will keep me entertained for now.
News has hit me that LCD Soundsystem are streaming their new album, This Is Happening.
We just love free music at The Clink, so this week we’re combining our weekly Weekend Tunage slot with a download freebie. The National are offering their latest track, Bloodbuzz Ohio, as a free download from their website highviolet.com. High Violet will be the new album from the American indie band, their fifth, and is due to be released on 10th May (11th May for North America – sorry Lucia, not everything is better in Canada 😉 ). The National were also announced to be playing at this year’s Electric Picnic festival – so another reason to include them as this week’s Weekend Tunage.
Happy Friday folks!
Everyone likes free music, and its become increasing popular for the big name bands to offer a track or two for free. Sometimes even a whole album. And today’s spot of free music just happens to be a full album.
MGMT may have hit a bit of a road bump. Their new album, Congratulations, is expected to be released on 13th April, 2010, and has been pretty much negatively received by critics. But who wants to listen to critics anyway?
The band themselves have said there isn’t a Time To Pretend or a Kids on it, aiming for the album to be listened to as a whole, not individual tracks. Earlier in the month, the first single from this new album was released as a free download. It’s called Flash Delirium and was available from the band’s website as a free download.
It’s been awhile. Tokyo Police Club burst on to the music scene way back in 2006, with their EP A Lesson In Crime – 7 tracks of perfect indie rock/pop. They then went on to release their debut album Elephant Shell – which was pretty good, but didn’t make as much of an impact I guess. But for 2007 that album was on the top of my most played list, and since then…. well, not much.
All is not lost though, the band are back, and are giving away a free teaser track on their website – Brakeneck Speed. Expect the new album titled Champ in Spring 2010. I for one, can’t wait. As the lyrics of the new track say –
It’s good to be back
I’ve been meaning to post about this band for a while, and by awhile I mean months. Better late than never though, and with the release of Stricken City‘s new EP Animal Festival no time like the present. The band are giuving away the EP for free (or pwyc) on their website strickencity.com. Hooray!
